Hand Bells

Hand Bells

Over 15 years ago a group of ladies and gentlemen, under the guidance of Pat Meek gathered to form the Filey Parish Hand Bell Group, meeting once a week to master the art of Hand Bell Ringing. Friendships were formed and the art of Ringing was eventually mastered, recognisable tunes could be heard.

Over the years the membership has fluctuated, yet we now have two teams, still aiming to master the art.

We have enjoyed playing for Schools an Organisations. At Coffee Mornings and at Concerts and Rallies and even one very cold December morning at Filey Railway Station Platform.

Although we are fortunate to have two teams, we are always looking for new people to join us, we would especially welcome some Men to ring the larger, heavier Bells.

The Newcomers Group meet in the Parish Hall, West Avenue each Thursday afternoon during Term time 3pm to 4.30pm. A very warm welcome awaits you, come and listen and try your hand at Bell Ringing. Pat says “If you can count to four and know your colours you can play Hand Bells” so…….come and give it a try.
